MoDOT celebrates completion of Route 40/61 work

(Event officially removed last signal on route between I-270 and I-70)

ST. LOUIS – The Missouri Department of Transportation, and its contractor, Millstone Bangert, recently celebrated the completion of the Route 40/61 upgrade work in St. Charles County with a ribbon cutting Wednesday, October 14 at 11 a.m. The public was invited to the celebration, near the intersection of the north outer Route 40/61 road and Callahan Road.

During the ribbon cutting, crews removed the last signal on the route at Callahan Road. Since the intersection at Callahan and Route 40/61 had to be removed to complete the upgrade, drivers will no longer be able to access Route 40/61 from Callahan, as of October 14. 

This $23 million project upgrades Route 40 between Lake St. Louis Boulevard and Interstate 70 to interstate standards. With this section complete, drivers will be able to drive from Interstate 270 to Interstate 70 along Route 40/61 without being stopped at a signal. Additionally, after Federal Highway Administration approval, the stretch of Route 40/61 between I-270 in St. Louis and I-70 in Wentzville will officially be redesignated as Interstate 64.

MoDOT celebrates completion of Spirit of St. Louis Boulevard ramps

ST. LOUIS – The Missouri Department of Transportation, and its contractor, Gershenson Construction Company, Inc., recently celebrated the completion of new ramps between Spirit of St. Louis Boulevard and Interstate 64/Route 40 with a ribbon cutting at 1:30 p.m., on Sept. 30. The public was invited to the celebration, on the I-64/Route 40 north outer road at the new roundabout for the exit ramp from I-64/Route 40 to Spirit of St. Louis Boulevard.

The $1.5 million project was a cost share between MoDOT, Chesterfield, St. Louis County, and Duke Realty. The project added an exit ramp from westbound I-64/Route 40 to Spirit of St. Louis Boulevard and an entrance ramp from Spirit of St. Louis Boulevard eastbound I-64/Route 40.
