The more than 70-year-old Bear Creek Bridge.

demo

Crews demolished the old Bear Creek Bridge to prepare for constuction on the new structure.

Bridge:

K0491

Status:

The Missouri Department of Transportation in conjunction with Kansas City Power and Light recently constructed a temporary bridge, or shoofly, to maintain traffic along Route 45 over Bear Creek just outside of Weston, Mo. MoDOT is currently replacing the existing bridge as part of the Safe & Sound Bridge Improvement Program.

Crews are currently working on the new bridge. Demolition on the more than 70-year-old bridge will allow crews to keep costs down by building the new bridge in the same location. Although traffic will continue to travel along Route 45 by using the temporary bridge, motorists can expect delays as crews work on the new structure, at times limiting traffic to one lane.

Work is expected to be complete by the end of December.

Detour: No Detour as traffic will be using the temporary bridge.
