The project will improve safety and traffic flow through the lake area. The work is proposed in two stages; from Business Route 54 in Miller County to the Grand Glaize Bridge and from the Grand Glaize Bridge to west of Route KK in Camden County. The proposed design includes construction of a four-lane divided expressway to include grading, drainage, bridges, retaining walls, paving and utilities.

Six interchanges will provide access between existing Route 54 and the new expressway. The interchanges will be at Business Route 54, Route 42, Passover Road, Jefferies Road, Broadwater Lane and Nichols/Route KK.

Stage 1 Expected Completion Date:  Spring 2010

Route 5
Route 5 Realignment Project

Camden County Route 5 Excavation Amount

This is the largest grading project in MoDOT history, requiring the excavation of more than seven million cubic yards of soil and rock. The grading work is part of the realignment of nearly seven miles of Route 5, from south of the Niangua Bridge to near Route 7. The realignment will also include extensive drainage work and the construction of two interchanges and four bridges.

Shared Four-Lane Highway

Shared Four-Lane
 

MoDOT will build a shared four-lane highway in Camden and Laclede counties to improve safety and traffic flow. This innovative highway design provides 18 miles of continuous, alternating passing lanes between Camdenton and Lebanon, allowing motorists to pass other vehicles without driving in opposing traffic lanes.

 
   
Location:  From just north of Route 7 near Camdenton to Greenfield Road in Lebanon.
